It looks like that's the only way we can impress upon the District the importance of keeping our streets safe."

"Speak for the Trees," Rock Creek Park Nature Center, 5200 Glover Road NW (202-426-6828), 11:30 a.m.
Celebrate Earth Day with the Dr. Seuss's movie, "The Lorax." Then, adopt your own tree and make a drawing and a rubbing of it. For ages 6-10.

Fri., April 28 & Sat., April 29:
"Encore Paris," vocalist Sally Martin and Byron Jones and dancers Ajax Joe Drayton and Mary Buckley in cafe songs by Aznavour, Brel, Legrand, Piaf.

Sunday, April 30:
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the new Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts and Athletic Center at the Lab School, 3 p.m.
Tour of the new buildings after the ceremony.

Month of April:
Glen Echo Pottery Staff and Student Exhibit at the Glen Echo Gallery and Bookstore, Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m.
Works from the pottery studio that was been at Glen Echo for 20 years.

ALERT

The Little Falls Mall is about to be renovated and renamed "The Shops at Sumner Place." Work was to have begun January 1 with a reopening set for Thanksgiving, 2000. During construction, the two banks and CVS Pharmacy will be in temporary quarters. The Safeway Store, which will be doubled in size and front on the parking lot, will be closed from April through October.
