ART
IN THE PALISADES
June,
2000 -- At the post office this month, we are happy to have Elaine Langerman's
bright, dynamic paintings on display.
Moving from the personal to the universal, they tell stories, remind
us of dream worlds, and give us new insights into realities that we all
share.
Carter Ratcliffe comments that by "embodying ideas about space and its
organization, these objects are Utopian in their playfulness, and in
their potential for infinite expansion."
Elaine Langerman lives and works near American University. She has a
BA from American University, and an MFA in Studio Art from the University
of Maryland. Her inspiration comes from dreams, poetry, and childhood
memories. Her work is in the collections of the National Museum of American
Art, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the National Institutes
of Health, the Ray Johnson Archive, and the Chicago Center for Book and
Paper Arts.
She has shown her work all over the world and throughout the United States.
Currently her work is traveling with the "Women of the Book" exhibition,
being shown in various university art galleries.
