It is time to clear out your old electronic junk!
This Sunday, May 12, at the Farmer’s Market (on U St. by CVS) you can safely recycle old tech. From 9am until 1pm, come drop off and/or volunteer at the event. It’s a great way to get community service hours! (See below.)
The collection service is fairly open on what it will accept, but if your item is not on this list, you may end up taking that relic back home with you.
Here is a list of accepted items:
- Batteries
- Cable/Satellite Receivers
- Computers
- Computer Speakers
- Desktop Printers
- DVD Players/Recorders
- E-Readers
- Gaming Consoles
- Keyboards
- Mice
- Mobile phones
- Monitors
- Portable Music Players
- Scanners
- Servers (Small Scale)
- Signal Converter Boxes
- Tablets
- Televisions
- VCRs
You can always take items to the Benning Road Transfer Station if you can’t make it Sunday, but take advantage of this easy opportunity. You can drop off and then stock up on some fresh veggies and fruit at the market!
We are also looking for volunteers to help tally items, direct traffic, and help offload items from cars. As the e-cycle event is sponsored by the PCA, volunteering for this will count for High School Community Service hours and it’s also a great way for adults to volunteer too! If you want to volunteer, please contact Suzanne Morrell, the PCA Environmental Committee Chair, or just show up at 9am.
A big thank you to the PCA’s community partners, Reverse Logistics Group and DC Department of Energy and Environment, for making this collection event happen.
