4th of July Volunteer Meeting

Each year, the PCA organizes an astounding trio of celebrations for the 4th of July, and the planning is underway for the big events this summer!

The 4th of July Parade meanders down MacArthur Blvd. from Whitehaven to Edmonds Place, dazzling the crowds along the way with music, marching, dancing, skateboarding, floats, beauty queens, and more!  After all that cheering, the crowds head to the biggest picnic of the year under the big top tent at the Palisades Recreation Center where there is live music, moon bounces, a dunk tank, hot dogs, and watermelon for all!

To help everyone gear up for the big event, we have the Hoedown on the Green the evening before, on July 3, under the tent with the messiest ever pie eating contest along with a tin-buster of a pie baking contest with live music and ice cream for all!

If you are thinking to yourself that that sounds like a lot of work to put together, you are definitely not wrong. But the secret is that it is one of the most fun and rewarding volunteer jobs around! The even bigger secret is that while there are lots of big jobs, there are lots of little jobs, too. We even have jobs that only take a couple hours of your time, or require zero sweating, or can be done from the comfort of your own home!

So, if you are ready to feel the magic of this absolute sparkler of a volunteer job, come to the first 4th of July planning meeting!
